NoHo Business Improvement District (NoHo BID) had its annual meeting on June 20th at the King Juan Carlos Center at NYU. Present at the meeting were property and business owners, residents, board members, and the NoHo Clean Team members. During the meeting, board members spoke about what it had accomplished over the year and presented the vision for the future of NoHo BID and presented the budget for the coming fiscal year.

Following the presentation of the budget, Chairman Bradley Fishel led the election process and unanimously welcomed the Board of Directors for the 2017-2018 fiscal year. We are excited to add Jordan Claffey, Jean-Marie Salavn, and Gil Traub to our Board and can’t wait to get their fresh input on the programs we are working on. The BID would like to thank all of the registered voters who came out in support and helped us welcome our new board.

The keynote speaker was NYPD Captain Vincent Greany of the 9th Precinct, which oversees the majority of the district. In his speech he highlighted the goals of the precinct in addressing homelessness and crime in the district. In addition, he emphasized the approachability of the precinct and emphasized their willingness and devotion to improve the quality and safety of our neighborhood.

The NYPD also has new Neighborhood Coordination Officers in our district. If anyone has issues they believe the police should know about, we encourage you to tell the BID and to reach out to PO David Hartman, 917.900.2088, david.hartmann@nypd.org or PO Ian Callan, 929.273.8226, ian.callen@nypd.org

We were also lucky to be joined by Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer, who arrived during the neighborhood networking part of the evening and shared information about her recent survey of retail storefronts on all of Manhattan’s 244 blocks of Broadway. The results showed an 8.4% vacancy rate.  Now armed with new data, Brewer’s office will continue to work to find new viable solutions to help retail throughout Manhattan and New York City.

Again, we would like to thank everyone who came out to the meeting. We look forward to working with you and hope to see you all again next year
