Summer Streets is an NYC tradition, and is an amazing chance to explore NYC in a car free environment. From The Brooklyn Bridge in Lower Manhattan all the way to Broadway and Dyckman in Inwood, there’s nearly thirteen miles of completely car free roads to walk, roll, ride, and run down. This year, the route’s been extended to be longer than ever and runs later in the day until 3:00 PM.
In NoHo, the route runs up Lafayette Street, and Astor Place is a rest stop. At the rest stop, enjoy complimentary samples from different food and drink vendors, let little ones explore the children’s obstacle course, or take a free fitness class.
This event runs in Manhattan for three Saturdays in August; the 2nd, 9th, and 16th, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Participation is completely free, and CitiBike offers special discounts for the day.
