On May 6th, 2024, the City of New York celebrated 40 years of BIDs in the City! On this exciting milestone, the New York City Department of Small Business Services released the FY23 Business Improvement District Trends Report. This report highlights the collective impact of BIDs, like us, in each borough and showcases how BIDs support commercial and industrial districts across the five boroughs. New York City has the nation’s largest network of BIDs. In FY23, BIDs:
- Collected nearly 4 million trash bags over the year
- Cleaned over 1,000 pieces of graffiti per day
- Invested nearly $200 million into New York City neighborhoods
- Devoted more than 580,000 hours to public safety programs, including 360,000 interactions with visitors
- Held more than 4,500 public events with total attendance of more than 30 million people
- Maintained 6,760 tree beds and 4,298 planters to create vibrant and green public spaces
