Last month, Village Preservation unveiled a new plaque commemorating legendary musician Charles Mingus, who lived for a time at 5 Great Jones Street. Fans and onlookers spilled out onto Great Jones Street, as we heard from writers and musicians who knew and were inspired by Mingus, and those who continue his legacy by performing his music today. We were also treated to just such a performance, to the delight all those gathered. Next time you’re walking on Great Jones Street, keep an eye out for this new marker!
