The Sheen Center for Thought & Culture, 18 Bleecker Street, NoHo’s newest performing arts center, has just begun its fourth season. A project of the Archdiocese of New York, The Sheen Center presents more than 75 events in theater, film, music, and thought per season. The state-of-the-art complex has a 274-seat off-Broadway proscenium theater equipped with five-camera high-definition livestream capability and a multi-track recording studio with thirty-two onstage inputs; an 80-seat off-off-Broadway black box theater; four rehearsal studios; and an art gallery. The fall season brings a multitude of great performers and thought leaders to Sheen Center stages. Coming up this season are Grammy-winning piano virtuoso George Winston; mother-daughter singer-songwriters Suzzy Roche and Lucy Wainwright Roche plus special guests pay tribute to the life add music of the late Maggie Roche; Civility in America: On Campus focuses on higher education with Princeton’s Cornel West and Robert P. George; authors’ nights with Jonah Goldberg, Mother Dolores Hart and Rachael Marie Collins; new documentaries and films at the sixth annual Justice Film Festival; a one-man show about comedy icon Freddie Prinze; and the New York premiere of a new a capella musical about the 1914 World War I Christmas truce, All is Calm.
