Two new laws impacting NoHo small businesses went into effect this July.

First, single-use styrofoam products are no longer allowed to be sold, given out, or used by businesses in New York. This law is being enforced; the grace period is over. You will be fined if you use them. Fines range from $250 to $1,000, depending on how many times you have violated the law. For more information on enforcement click here. Second, CBD-infused food and drinks are no longer allowed to be sold. The law is still not totally clear on what exactly this entails. The law is now in effect and products will be embargoed, however fines on products do not begin until October 1st. For more information click here. For more information on enforcement, click here

If you are unsure if you are compliant with either of these laws or have questions, please reach out to the BID. We are here to help you understand what these laws mean for your business.
