Come learn about owning a storefront in a historic district!

Stores and other ground floor commercial spaces are an important part of our community, providing services, products, jobs and character to our neighborhoods. Small businesses in landmarked buildings and historic districts have unique assets – a distinctive, historic face which interacts with the public – but also unique challenges in that they have NYC Landmark Preservation Commission (LPC) rules to follow. The LPC has recently released guidelines to help business owners get faster approval for work on or changes to their storefronts, and to help understand the agency’s rules and regulations for new storefronts so that they can make good design decisions that meet LPC requirements. Join us for a presentation with expert staff from the LPC and the opportunity to ask your own questions.  Small business owners and merchants are especially encouraged to attend!
