80 Washington Square East Gallery is presenting the exhibition James ‘Son Ford’ Thomas: The Devil and His Blues, the first major institutional solo presentation of James ‘Son Ford ‘Thomas’s sculpture to take place since the artist’s death in 1993. James ‘Son Ford’ Thomas is also a widely celebrated figure for the evolution of the Delta style of blues music. This exhibition seeks to consider the “entirety of Thomas’s output in music and visual art as a remarkable document of American history: an epic autobiographical narrative, connecting mortality, nature, community, spirituality, and the culture of the region in which he lived.”
