New Amsterdam Market Primed to Relaunch on Bond Street

New York City’s most charming outdoor food market is primed to relaunch on NoHo’s Bond Street.

Working closely with the local community board, resident groups and businesses, the New Amsterdam Market and NoHo BID have partnered to develop and manage a well-orchestrated and thoughtfully designed food market that will serve local residents as well as visitors from across the city.

The one-of-a-kind ‘ingredient-driven’ market, which operated with great success at the South Street Seaport from 2007 to 2014, would feature a few dozen vendors selling produce, fruit, fish, breads, meats, cheeses, dairy, and selected regional specialities.

New Amsterdam Market NoHo, as proposed, would operate on Saturdays throughout the year on the cobblestones of Bond Street, between Broadway and Jones Alley. The entire block up to Lafayette Street would be reserved for pedestrians on market days.

The goal of the market, according to its founder and executive director, Robert LaValva, is to promote local and regional economic growth, enhance neighborhood quality of life, and provide a wonderful, self-sustaining new amenity for area residents.

We look forward to continuing our conversation with the community as we near the launch of New Amsterdam Market NoHo. Please contact us if you have ideas, questions, concerns, or wish to get involved!
