Holton Rower: Psquirmour
Solo Exhibition
June 9 – July 26, 2015
The creator of “Pour Paintings,” Holton Rower is having a solo show called the Psquirmour, new pours and new squirms, at The Hole.
Unlike his orignal Pour Paintings that are created by pouring up to 50 gallons of rainbow-colored paints over variously configured blocks and panels of plywood, and allowing it to spread into psychedelic compositions, the new works of the Pour Paintings are known to have a undersea feeling with frequent blue and aqua hues and their mollusk-like asymmetrical forms.
“The new body of work ‘squirms’ are controlled thin pours that have a moving point of origin; unlike the Pour Paintings we have presented in the past where all pigment is poured in the center of a plywood ground … these works are poured in a moving line, making a worm-like shape as the radiant color puddles bend around the plywood and overlap.” – The H
