“I believe that as art practitioners, we are custodians responsible to propel and uplift our world.” – Felix Osiemi
The works were informed by interactions and studies that cut across the spiritual and secular. He integrated African textiles and symbols like Bogolanfini fabric, Ankara, Adinkra, and other elements as part of a continuum in his art making process to sustain an inquiry into his identity. The fabrics, the shifting dark lines, the form and movement are narratives that extend beyond the contours of representation to connect with cultures of human experience, and blends with a juxtaposition of contemporary palettes. He stated that his intention was to create a context in art as a way of healing.
