Icon David Bowie spent a large part of his life living on Lafayette and working and playing in the neighborhoods around him. Since his death two years ago, there have been a variety of artistic tributes to him including street art pieces in the area. On April 18th, the Brooklyn Museum and Spotify took over the Broadway-Lafayette Subway Station and wrapped the station with art, quotes and memories of Bowie, in conjunction with the full show currently happening at Brooklyn Museum.
The MTA also released limited edition Metrocards with 5 images of Bowie from different stages of his life. For three days people waited in long lines to get one of the 250,000 cards, which added even more excitement.
The station has been filled with onlookers ever since. You have till May 13th to come and see it yourself.
